Zagreb, August 30th, 2017 – Until the Tokyo Olympics 2020, for which 50 potential candidates have been recorded up to August this year, the Croatian Olympic Committee and the relevant Olympic Programme Office have prepared a rich schedule of multi-sports events, as many as nine of them. Besides the two mentioned projects – PyeongChang Winter Olympics 2018 and Tokio Olympics 2020 - adopted by the Croatian Olympic Committee’s Council, extensive preparations are being made, in cooperation with national sports federations, for seven more.


The first to come are the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang (Republic of Korea) that will be held from February 9th to 25th 2018. There are currently around 20 top Croatian athletes on the candidates’ list. In pre-Olympic year 2019, the 2nd European Games hosted by Minsk (Belarus) will be held from June 21st to 30th 2019.

The new multi-sports event of this Olympic cycle are the 1st World Beach Games to be held in October 2019 in San Diego. Solid Croatian experience in this sand and water sports competition originates from the 1st Mediterranean Beach Games held in Pescara in 2015. (COC/ rj)
