ZAGREB, 10 April 2010 – Zlatko Matesa, COC President, and Josip Cop, COC Secretary General, sent a telegram of condolence to the Polish sports community and the Polish Olympic Committee on the tragic death of its President Piotr Nurowski, who was a part of the Polish delegation that died in a plane crash near the airport of the Russian city of Smolensk.

ZAGREB, 10 April 2010 – Zlatko Matesa, COC President, and Josip Cop, COC Secretary General, sent a telegram of condolence to the Polish sports community and the Polish Olympic Committee on the tragic death of its President Piotr Nurowski, who was a part of the Polish delegation that died in a plane crash near the airport of the Russian city of Smolensk.
"On behalf of the Croatian Olympic family, athletes and citizens of Croatia, please accept our deepest condolences on the tragic death of the President of the Polish Olympic Committee Mr. Piotr Nurowski. His passing is a great loss for not only the Polish athletes, but also the international Olympic movement. Piotr Nurowski was a true friend of the Croatian Olympic Committee, and as a member of the European Olympic Committees, he was a consistent advocate of the European Sports Games" the COC leaders' telegram read.
