Although the European programs for sports, according to the Austrian regional expert Michael Trinkel, are in the last three years “at rest”, in the new EU budget for the period from 2014 to 2020, sports programs are provided with an amount of 200 million Euros. In order to obtain those funds it is necessary to have programs in accordance with project requirements and to cooperate with national and regional EU bodies.
The chance here is seen also by the Croatian Olympic Committee, particularly interested in this chapter because of the need for expansion of national capacity and sporting infrastructure, such as building a sports center on the island of Silba.
