ZAGREB / ROME, 27 January 2010 – President of the Croatian Olympic Committee Zlatko Matesa participated in the first meeting of the new Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) held in Rome on 26 and 27 January 2010.
EOC President Patrick Hickey presented the report on the EOC activities in the past period; the agenda also included the Financial Report, as well as those on the activities of the EOC EU Office and of numerous commissions.
The idea that attracted the most attention was that of organizing the European Games, a multisport continental competition, which Europe still doesn't have. President Matesa gave a presentation on starting the European Games, and the reactions of the Executive Committee members were extremely positive.
It was decided that a feasibility study be conducted on holding a European multisport event and Matesa was appointed the coordinator of the work group that would conduct the study. It is a great acknowledgement to the Croatian Olympic Committee, as well as to President Matesa personally.
Let us remind you, Zlatko Matesa was elected to the EOC Executive Committee for a term from 2009 to 2013 at the EOC General Assembly held in Lisbon in November 2009.
